It served over 80,000 for $573,000 in its first year, and now the federally funded program funds 89,000 schools and institutions to provide meal programs. In 2012, ten million children received free or reduced priced breakfasts with over 12.9 million children participating daily which costs over $3.3 billion (United States Department of Agricutlure Food and Nutrition Program, 2013).
